To protect yourself from the sun or rain when you are at the dock, anchored, or even while sailing, SNA offers to equip your motorboat or sailboat with a custom sunshade. Thanks to this protection made of fabric resistant to UV rays and waterproof, you will always be sheltered from the sun and bad weather.

What is a sunshade?

A sunshade is a protective fabric cover, specially designed to protect the crew of a boat from harmful UV rays, and when waterproof, from rain.

The sunshade can be installed on a motorboat equipped with a suitable support; namely a frame at the console level and a roll-bar, using a simple fixing kit composed of ropes, hooks, and straps.

Sunshades are also suitable for sailboats. Depending on the model of the boat sunshade and the fixing system, it can:

● Be fixed over the boom: it is then intended for use when not sailing
● Be installed under the boom of the sailboat, allowing navigation without having to store it away

In any case, sunshades allow the entire crew to enjoy pleasant moments in the shade or sheltered from the rain aboard a motorboat or within the cockpit of a sailboat.

Bimini and sunshade: what are the differences?

Good to know: SNA provides you with a custom sunshade for your boat, not a bimini. A bimini is a structure made of fabric attached to foldable metal hoops, made of aluminum or stainless steel. Once installed, the bimini remains permanently fixed to the boat.

Unlike a bimini, which requires a professional to fix the aluminum or stainless steel metal hoops to the boat and is bulky, SNA offers you a removable custom sunshade, very easy to install and store.

Choosing the best fabric for your sunshade

SNA sunshades are made of polyester or Sunbrella fabric. Sunbrella fabric is made of solution-dyed acrylic fibers. This fabric therefore ensures you optimal protection against the sun. Indeed, Sunbrella fabric blocks 95% of harmful UV rays. It is also waterproof and stain-resistant thanks to a fluorocarbon-based treatment.

Sunshades adapted to all types of boats

SNA offers different dimensions (width and length) for all its sunshades to fit all types of boats. Likewise, SNA develops different sunshade models that adapt to all navigation projects:
