Description
With its mast in place, your sailboat is ideally suited to a custom winter cover.
Make winter storage easier with a cover designed to fit your boat.
The custom cover we make for your boat has no frame. Instead, we use the boom to create a tent-like structure that covers the entire vessel. This reusable cover is a long-term investment and can last from eight to 15 years, depending on how well you care for it. The seams should be thoroughly repaired after around eight years, and the cover should never be left in place during storms.
It is crucial to ensure the cover fits correctly, as a strong gust of wind can tear a poorly fitted cover. The straps and lines must be tensioned properly.
The winter cover is ventilated
For our covers, we use polyester fabric coated with PVC on both sides. This fabric offers several advantages: it is strong and lightweight, has low stretch, and resists mould and abrasion—making it ideal for protecting your sailboat. However, as this material is not breathable, we fit essential vents during manufacture to ensure adequate airflow beneath the cover throughout the winter storage months.
Quality through a selection of durable marine-grade materials
To maximise the cover’s lifespan, we avoid stainless steel eyelets and instead use sturdy webbing loops or quick-release fasteners. Metal eyelets can cause abrasion and should never come into direct contact with the surface being protected. We use UV-resistant, high-strength sail thread to ensure our seams last.
Expert craftsmanship for a cover that fits perfectly
In most cases, your boat cover comes in two sections joined by a zipper, usually between the mast and the cockpit companionway. Reinforcements are sewn in at every chafe point. The cover goes over the stanchions and hangs slightly over the hull. It is secured from inside the boat at each stanchion base, usually with a strap threaded through a ladder-lock buckle.
We never use fastenings that require drilling, as there are plenty of suitable attachment points already on board.
The mast base is enclosed in a sleeve, which is strapped at the top to limit water ingress.
Every detail of the design and construction is carefully considered and carried out to deliver protection that meets your expectations.
