Cover or pilot console cover: an essential accessory

The dashboard or pilot console is one of the elements that is crucial to protect on your motorboat. Indeed, the dashboard or pilot console of a boat includes electrical accessories and equipment (battery, fishfinder, GPS, VHF…), mechanical parts (control box, steering wheel…) and finishes that can be sensitive to saltwater, salty air, wind, and sun over the long term.

To limit premature wear of these elements and accessories, it is therefore important to protect your motorboat by using a console cover after each use. This waterproof, breathable, and UV-resistant protective cover specially designed for pilot consoles or dashboards ensures that you keep your boat in good condition for as long as possible.

Why choose a custom-made console cover?

While the benefits of a pilot console cover are undeniable, you still need to find the protective cover perfectly suited to your boat. This can prove complex, even for production boats. Indeed, although production boat consoles are supposed to be standard models, it is important to keep in mind that they evolve according to improvements and repairs made by successive owners of the vessel. Thus, it is not uncommon for a console to be equipped with a mount to integrate a removable GPS or fishfinder, a fishing rod holder, an antenna, a new windshield… If this is the case, standard console covers then become obsolete. That is why SNA designs its custom protective covers in polyester fabric treated to resist water, UV rays, and dirt, based on the measurements of your motorboat’s console. Once the measurement sheet is received, the different polyester fabric pieces of the cover are digitally modeled and cut. The polyester fabric pieces are then hand-sewn with UV-treated sail thread in our workshops in Brittany, Sarzeau.
