Description
Your sailboat, with its mast in place, is ideally suited to a custom-fitted winter cover.
Make winter storage easier with our winter cover.
The custom cover we make for your boat has no frame, as we use the boom to create a tent-like structure that covers the entire vessel. This reusable cover offers long-term savings and can last from eight to 15 years (with thorough seam repairs after around eight years), depending on how well it is maintained, provided it is always removed during storms.
It is crucial to fit the cover correctly, as a strong gust of wind can tear a poorly fitted cover. The straps and lines must be tensioned properly.
The winter cover is ventilated
For our covers, we use PVC-coated polyester fabric on both sides. This fabric offers several advantages, including strength, light weight, low stretch, and resistance to mould and abrasion—qualities that make it ideal for protecting your sailboat. However, as this material is not breathable, we incorporate essential vents during manufacture to ensure adequate airflow beneath the cover throughout the winter storage period.
Quality materials selected for marine durability
To ensure maximum service life, we avoid using stainless steel eyelets, preferring strong webbing loops or quick-release fasteners. Metal eyelets are known to cause abrasion and should never come into direct contact with the surface being protected. We use UV-resistant, high-strength sail thread for our stitching to ensure excellent durability.
Expert craftsmanship for a close-fitting cover
Your boat cover usually comes in two sections joined by a zipper, most often between the mast and the cockpit companionway. Chafe patches are sewn on at every point where the cover may rub. The cover passes over the stanchions and extends slightly down over the hull. It is secured from inside the boat at the base of each stanchion, usually with a strap threaded through a ladder-lock buckle.
We never use fastenings that require drilling, as there are already enough natural attachment points on board.
The mast base is enclosed in a collar that is strapped at the top to limit water ingress.
Every detail of the design and construction is carefully considered and executed to provide you with protection that meets your expectations.
