A taud on a boat is a cover or flexible canvas protection, usually waterproof, used to cover certain large parts of the boat or even the entire vessel. Tauds serve to protect the boat and its equipment from external elements such as water, wind, sun, dust, debris, and other adverse weather conditions.

Tauds are designed to fit the specific contours of the boat and are always custom-made at SNA for each model. They can be attached to the hull or to specific supports to keep them in place. Tauds can cover different parts of the boat, including the cockpit, the deck, and the floats.

There are several types of tauds, each with a specific function:

Cockpit taud: It covers the cockpit area where the seats and boat controls are usually located. It protects the cabin interior from bad weather and prevents rainwater accumulation.

Example: Winter cover for Tofinou

Deck taud: This mooring cover protects the upper part of the boat, including the deck. It can be used to protect the boat when docked or during storage. It fits hard-hull boats such as Cap Camarat, Quicksilver, Sessa, Bayliner, and sailboats.

Example: Flat deck cover Cap Camarat 7.5 WA S2

Winterizing taud: Used when a boat is stored on a trailer for long periods, this storage cover protects the entire boat from bad weather and environmental conditions. It fits rigid inflatable boats and sailboats.

Example: Winter cover ZODIAC Pro Open 550

Float cover taud: This cover protects only the floats from the anti-fouling strip on the outside to mid-height inside the boat. This protection is appreciated in regions with intense sun and/or by companies such as offshore racing teams to promote their sponsor's brand.
