Description
With its mast in place, your sailboat is perfectly suited to a custom winter cover.
Make winter storage easier with our made-to-measure cover.
The custom cover we make for your boat has no frame: instead, we use the boom to create a tent-like structure that covers the entire vessel. This reusable cover is a cost-effective investment in the long term and can last for eight to 15 years, depending on how well it is maintained. The seams should be thoroughly refurbished after around eight years, and the cover must always be removed during storms.
It is crucial to fit the cover correctly, as a strong gust of wind can tear a poorly fitted cover. The straps and ropes must be tensioned properly.
The winter cover is ventilated
For our covers, we use polyester fabric coated with PVC on both sides. This fabric offers several advantages, including strength, light weight, low stretch, and resistance to mildew and abrasion—qualities that make it ideal for protecting your sailboat. However, as this material is not breathable, we incorporate essential vents during fabrication to ensure adequate ventilation beneath the cover throughout the winter storage period.
Quality, with a selection of durable marine-grade materials
To ensure maximum longevity, we avoid using stainless-steel eyelets and instead use sturdy webbing loops or quick-release fasteners. Metal eyelets can cause chafing and should never come into direct contact with the surface being protected. Our seams are sewn with sail thread that is resistant to breakage and UV rays, ensuring maximum durability.
Expert craftsmanship for a perfectly fitted cover
In most cases, your boat cover is made in two sections joined by a zipper, usually between the mast and the cockpit entrance. Reinforcements are sewn at every chafe point. The cover goes over the stanchions and extends just slightly down over the hull. It is secured from inside the boat at each stanchion base, usually with a strap threaded through a ladder lock.
We never use fastening systems that require drilling, as there are enough natural attachment points on board.
The mast step is enclosed by a mast collar, which is secured at the top with a strap to help prevent water from getting in.
Every detail of the design and construction is carefully considered and executed to deliver protection that meets your expectations.
