Description
Your sailboat, with its mast in place, is ideally suited to a custom winter cover.
Make winter storage easier with our winter cover.
The custom cover we make for your boat has no frame. Instead, we use the boom to create a tent-like structure that covers the entire vessel. This reusable cover offers long-term savings and can last from eight to 15 years (with a thorough seam overhaul after about eight years), depending on how well it is maintained, provided it is always removed during storms.
It is crucial to fit the cover correctly, as a strong gust of wind can tear a poorly fitted cover. The straps and lines must be tensioned correctly.
The winter cover has built-in ventilation
For our covers, we use PVC-coated polyester fabric coated on both sides. It is strong, lightweight, low-stretch, and resistant to mildew and abrasion—ideal qualities for protecting your sailboat. However, this material is not breathable, which is why we sew in essential vents to ensure airflow beneath the cover during the long months it is in place.
Quality materials selected for lasting marine use
To ensure maximum service life, we avoid stainless steel eyelets, opting instead for sturdy webbing loops or quick-release fasteners. Metal eyelets are known to cause abrasion and should never come into direct contact with the surface being protected. We use UV-resistant, high-strength sail thread for our stitching to ensure lasting performance.
Expert craftsmanship for a tailored fit
In most cases, your boat cover comes in two sections joined by a zipper, usually between the mast and the cockpit companionway. Reinforcements are sewn in at every chafe point. The cover passes over the stanchions and extends slightly down over the hull. It is secured from inside the boat at each stanchion base, usually with a strap threaded through a ladder-lock buckle.
We never include any fastenings that require drilling, as there are enough natural attachment points on board.
The mast base is enclosed by a sleeve that is strapped at the top to limit water ingress.
Every aspect of the design and construction is carefully considered and executed to deliver protection that meets your expectations.
