Description
Your sailboat, with its mast in place, is ideally suited for the use of a custom winter cover.
Make your winterizing easier with our custom-designed cover.
The custom tarp we make for your boat has no framework, as we take advantage of the presence of the boom to create a sort of tent covering the entire vessel. This reusable tarp represents a long-term saving, lasting from eight to 15 years (with a thorough seam inspection after about eight years), depending on its maintenance, provided it is absolutely removed during storms.
It is crucial to properly adjust the cover, as a strong gust of wind can tear a poorly fitted cover. Proper tensioning of straps and ropes is essential.
The winter cover is equipped with ventilation
For the covers, we use a polyester tarp coated with PVC on both sides, offering strength, lightness, low elasticity, and resistance to mold and abrasion—ideal characteristics for protecting your sailboat. However, this material is not breathable, which is why we sew in essential vents to ensure ventilation under the tarp during the long months of installation.
Quality with a selection of durable marine materials
To ensure maximum lifespan, we avoid using stainless steel eyelets, preferring strong webbing buckles or quick-release fasteners. Metal eyelets are known to cause abrasion and should never be in direct contact with the surface to be protected. Our seams are made with sailcloth thread resistant to breaking and UV rays to guarantee optimal durability.
Expertise that guarantees a fitted cover
The cover for your boat usually comes in 2 parts connected by a zipper, most often between the mast and the cockpit companionway. Reinforcements are sewn at all stress points. The cover passes over the stanchions and extends slightly down onto the hull. The tarp is secured from inside the boat at each stanchion base, usually by a strap passing through a ladder lock.
We never plan for fastenings that require drilling; there are enough natural attachment points on board.
The mast base is enclosed in a sleeve that is strapped at the top to limit water ingress.
The design and construction are carefully studied and executed to deliver protection that meets your expectations.
