Description
Your sailboat, with its mast stepped, is ideally suited to a custom winter cover.
Simplify winter protection for your boat by choosing a cover made to fit.
The custom cover we make for your boat has no frame: we use the boom to create a tent-like structure that covers the entire vessel. This reusable cover is a long-term investment and can last from eight to 15 years, depending on how well you care for it. The seams should be thoroughly refurbished after around eight years, and the cover should never be left in place during storms.
It is crucial to fit the cover correctly, as strong gusts can tear a poorly fitted cover. The straps and lines must be tensioned correctly.
The winter cover is ventilated
For our covers, we use polyester fabric coated with PVC on both sides. This fabric offers several advantages, including strength, light weight, low stretch, and resistance to mildew and abrasion—qualities that make it ideal for protecting your sailboat. However, as this material is not breathable, we incorporate essential vents during manufacture to ensure adequate airflow beneath the cover throughout the winter months.
Quality through a selection of durable marine-grade materials
To ensure the longest possible lifespan, we avoid stainless-steel eyelets, choosing instead strong webbing loops or quick-release fasteners. Metal eyelets can cause abrasion and should never come into direct contact with the surface being protected. We use UV- and break-resistant sail thread for our seams to ensure the cover lasts as long as possible.
Expert craftsmanship for a perfectly fitted cover
In most cases, your boat cover comes in two sections joined by a zipper, usually between the mast and the cockpit companionway. Reinforcements are sewn in at all chafe points. The cover passes over the stanchions and extends slightly down over the hull. It is secured from inside the boat at each stanchion base, usually with a strap threaded through a ladder-lock buckle.
We never include fixings that require drilling, as there are plenty of existing attachment points on board.
The mast base is enclosed in a sleeve that is strapped at the top to limit water ingress.
Every aspect of the design and construction is carefully considered to provide protection that fully meets your needs.
